Where a McAllen Record Is Kept

Use the custodian that holds the kind of McAllen record you need:

  • Parcel and street evidence: use the McAllen street directory and the Hidalgo County Appraisal District.
  • Historical directory runs and earlier addresses: use the McAllen city directories collection routes.
  • One-name confirmation: use the McAllen resident lookup record pathways.
  • Office roles and portals: see McAllen resident records offices.
  • Existing city or county records that are not online: send a written request under the Texas Public Information Act, Tex. Gov’t Code ch. 552, to the appropriate custodian.

Hidalgo County Clerk. For official records, deeds, county-court material, probate, marriage records, and related county records, contact the Hidalgo County Clerk at 100 N. Closner, Edinburg, TX 78539; Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; (956) 318-2100. The clerk’s office is the proper public-records contact for county-held records, even though the subject address may be in McAllen.

For city-held material, use the McAllen Public Information Request portal. Requests must be written and should identify the records, address or subject, and date range. McAllen states that it does not have to answer questions, create new information, or perform legal research in response to a request.
